President Cele Eifert welcomed everyone present, and introductions were made. She congratulated Assistant Principal Lisa Fine on being named Georgia Assistant Principal of the Year.
Principal’s Remarks
Assistant Principal Lisa Fine stated that the transition to 2nd semester was smooth. She announced that the AP meeting was scheduled for January 10th, and that the AP application process would take place in January and February. In March, registration would commence, with scheduling completed by the end of April. As graduation rules change next year, MHS is looking for more rigorous science classes. AP Environmental Science will be a new offering. Also the new GPS math starts next year, with two math tracks. Next year there might be a 2 day “Freshman Camp” before school starts to help freshmen with the transition to high school.
Treasurer’s Report
Following a rebalancing of the checkbook, there is currently a balance of $14,785. Generating income for the month of December were the School Store ($1075) and Spirit Wear ($154). Expenses included Hospitality ($337 for the cancelled brunch) and School Store ($205). (Note: next year expenses for the teacher Christmas party should go under the Teacher Appreciation budget line. This year they go under Teacher/Staff gifts.)

Hospitality
The staff brunch was cancelled, but the candy jars were prepared and delivered to the teachers.
Spirit Wear
There was a small order before Christmas. Spirit Wear will be sold at the basketball games.
School Store
Everything is running smoothly.
Appropriations
Regie Cameron is about to close out the process. Current expenditures are $4786.
Fashionata
The event is set for Saturday, February 9th, from 2-4 at the MHS auditorium. Ticket prices are $5. The models, servers, etc. are all set. The tickets and the program are ready to print. The committee is just waiting on sponsor information. The food will be finger foods. Students that are modeling must bring in item for the separate door prizes. There will be an extra cost for door prize tickets. The runway is being built by the construction class. Musical auditions for the 5 acts are January 16. This will be in the daily announcements. Sam DeRosa will work with Gwen Jordan on the audio/visual elements. The decorating chair is Julie Widtfeldt. The silent auction will include about five items, including a spa makeover. The models will all get letters, along with a contract, about their responsibilities for the show. The next Fashionata meeting is January 10th at the Starbuck’s by Publix.

Landscaping
The Busselles (chairs) have moved. The eagle scout project of redoing the walkway from the church is in progress. Concerning the crosswalk in front of the school, Cpl. Crider has information that it actually will soon be painted on the road.

The next meeting is January 10th, about Fashionata.
Old Business
Directory & Incentives
The directories are all distributed. Some incentives still need to go out. It is now up to the parents to come in and get them. There was a suggestion not to offer incentives next year.
Partners in Education
There are 23 official partners. The yearbook ad is in progress.
Nominating Committee
The slate for next year is open. If anyone is interested in being on the board, contact Pat Cook, Teresa Love, or Kim Wingo.
New Business
The Fashionata committee is looking for volunteers and prizes.
The next MHS PTSO meeting is Tuesday, February 12th, at 10 am in room 202.
