General Membership Meeting, 12 August 2008 

1. Welcome/Introductions

Executive Board:

• President – Cele Eifert
• Vice-President – Laurel Cantlon

2. Principal’s Remarks (Tracie Fleming)

*MHS has 1659 students & 158.5 staff

*First week: meeting with Freshman–Senior classes to go over rules

*Biggest problems: dress code violations, tardiness, cell phones

*Camp McIntosh: 279 students attended, received positive feedback, recommendation to shorten         camp day; the 8:00am– 5:00pm day (to accommodate working parents) was too long

*Off to a good start – PTSO dues are coming in

*Reviewed budget 

4. Committee Reports

*Introduced the Committee Chairs

*They defined their committee and need for volunteers  

      Appropriations (Regie Cameron)

        The letter has gone out to all the teachers and their wish lists are due soon.

• Bulletin Board (Jane Higgins)

Positive contributions from the local newspaper and any other media sources can be turned in to the PTSO slot in the mail room; there is a big manila envelope in the box labeled “bulletin board.”

• Fashionata (Karie Houston)

  Scheduled for March 6, 2009 

     “Back to the Future” theme; will have models who graduated from MHS and those  from feeder middle and elementary schools. The fashions for students to be  provided by recent MHS grad who was stylist for Madonna and Nicole Kidman; now  she has her own clothing line

• Front Office (Kimberly Calamoneri)
• Guidance (Terri Jo Everage & Teresa Love)

Senior Day is scheduled for October 15, 2009; if you have a senior, please sign up to help.

• Hospitality (Sheila Hardeman, Tamara Brettin, Jane Burk, Cathi Kerns and Sabrina Aslam)

The next hospitality events will be the Partners in Education brunch and the Teacher Holiday breakfast. Help will be needed with the food for these events so stay tuned!

• Landscaping (Kathy Oelberg)
• School Store (Mel Duhon & Nancy Elward)

  Need 2 parents per day from 7:45am-8:45am. This is Mel and Nancy’s last year at MHS so they will need to be replaced and preferably by someone with a freshman who can start shadowing and learning on the job now!

• Spiritwear (Cindy Robertson)

  Need volunteers to help sell spiritwear at the upcoming football games; sign up with Cindy.

• Student Club

  The “S” in PTSO; their first meeting is Thursday 21 Aug at 8am in Mrs Sullivan’s room. They are deciding on what their gift to the school will be - possibly a large screen flat panel TV for the senior cafeteria.

5. New Business
