2. Principal’s Remarks

Mrs. Fine discussed how the economy is affecting our school system.  Several possibilities are being reviewed but there are no specific cuts being announced at this time.

The SACS Team visited MHS on January 27.  They are looking to improve the technology within our school system.

MHS is ranked15th for AP in the state of Ga.

Reviewed income & expenditures from the month of January. 

4. Committee Reports

Teachers are thankful to the PTSO for purchasing 17 approved requests from their wish lists.

• Bulletin Board

No report just please return the tacks.

• Fashionata

A Planning Meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Bella Boutique.

• Front Office

All the ladies are doing an excellent job, esp. when Jodi's not there.  The other secretaries really appreciate it!

• Guidance

• Landscaping

Alex Pearson is installing a planter by the trailer near the baseball fields as his Eagle Scout project.

• School Store

A volunteer is needed to oversee the school store.  For information about this committee contact Mel Duhon at duhon@comcast.net.

• Spiritwear

MHS car flags were discussed as a way to show school spirit.

• Student Club

         Meeting is Wed 12 Feb, 8am to discuss the Fashionata.

• Nominating

      2 Board Members (Laurel Cantlon & Anne Houston)

3 Members of the general membership (Cathi Kerns, Donna Duff & Sabrina Aslam)

A slate is being prepared for the 2009-2010 school year.  

5. Old Business 

• Student Club purchase for school (TV): has been installed in the senior cafeteria
• Jump Start Kit for Mr Prince (parking lot attendant): waiting to hear back from a possible donor 
• PTSO Night Meeting: is scheduled for Monday, March 23^rd at 6:30 in the Media Center A brief business report will be given at 6:30 followed by our guest speaker.  Dr Trevena will discuss “Risky Business: Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll and Cell Phones”. Parents and students are welcome to attend
• Publix Cards:  are available to be picked up at the front desk.  When you use this card, MHS will receive a check from Publix.

6. New Business

• Ideas about teacher/classroom/school needs were discussed.
• MHS Directories will be for sale ($5) at the front office
• Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8) gift ideas were suggested
• Academic Booster Club needs volunteers on March 4 at 6:00 pm in the cafe to put goodie- bags together for Honor Student Recognition Day (March 5). Contact Andrea Simmonds at startovergeorgia@aol.com.   Please consider joining this club – your $25 goes a long way.
