General Membership Minutes, 12 Oct 2009


➢    Welcome/Introductions:  Cele E, Sabrina A, Laurel C, Laura P, Kim L, Tamara K, Pat C, Regie C, Anne C,  Jane A, Jeanette B, Carol P, Kathleen O, Katina S, Teresa L, Gina B,  Laurie L, Geralyn N, Beth P, Sheila H, Ro S, MaryAnn B, Julie M

➢    Principal’s Remarks:  Lisa Fine is proud of McIntosh’s Academic Excellence, Homecoming went smoothly with no incidents , golf cart parking was discussed – please park in designated spots

➢    Treasurer's Report: Reviewed income & expenditures for September

➢    Committee Reports
➢    Accident Avoidance Workshop: A constant contact will be sent out so more folks can sign-up, more publicity is needed to emphasize this is a fundraiser & with full registration MHS can earn the maximum of $1000! So far, we’ve earned $350. The next enrollments will earn the $25 per person, adding $250 to the meter. And the last 10 McIntosh enrollments will earn the PTSO $40 per person, adding $400 to the meter.
➢    Appropriations:  29 requests were turned in & 23 of them were granted
➢    Bulletin Board: No report 
➢    Fashionata:  On hold – waiting for fashion providers. 
➢    Front Office: Attendance Office needs 2-3 volunteers for Friday afternoons, contact Kim Calamoneri at kburkcala@hotmail.com if interested
➢    Guidance:  PSAT sign ups went well, Senior Day is Wednesday
➢    Homecoming: PTSO will be in charge of the parade next year, it will be on a Friday
➢    Hospitality:  Department luncheons are underway, need a PTSO/Hospitality rep to attend. All months are covered for lunch providers.
➢    Landscaping:  Kudos!!!  It looks amazing – Many thanks to all who helped!  Next project is the area around Mrs. Sullivan’s trailer
➢    Media Center:  More volunteers wanted, contact Ro Slater at 404-797-0934 or theslaters@bellsouth.net if interested
➢    Recycling: Student Club will buy recycling bins for the school
➢    Service Projects:  Thank you Brandon Smith for painting the benches!  A list of projects is being put together
➢    School Store:  Welcome Uncle Jeff!  Jeff Nunes, uncle of an MHS student, has volunteered to open up and stock the school store each morning. Unfortunately, there are too many volunteers who are not showing up, so if you sign up to work, please show up or find a replacement, or call Laurie Licitra as soon as you know you can't work.
➢    Spiritwear:  A box of T-shirts were discovered by last year's spiritwear chair in her garage. Jeanette has them and will be selling them for $15. Also, spirit banners were introduced and well received for future sales.
➢    Student Club: Will be having a brick sale for a fundraiser            
➢    Old Business
➢    Night meeting: Topic will be: PTC Police & Golf Cart/Cart Path Safety Issues
➢    Courtyard Drainage Problem:  Mrs. Fine is working on it and has been told the county will be out to work on the problem in 2 weeks
➢    Mr. McIntosh: Instead of Fashionata, the PTSO may hold a Mr. McIntosh contest - as suggested by Carol Perdoni. More research will be done to see if this is a feasible option.
➢    PIE Breakfast:  Went well; next year Mrs Fine said department chairs will also attend.
➢    New Business
➢    Lighting:  Cooper Lighting is donating a light/beam for our American Flag on the stadium field, need a general contractor/electrician to install. Mrs Fine said she will take that up with the county once the courtyard drainage problem is fixed.
➢    Prom:   timing concerns were discussed
